ANNOUCEMENTS & CURRENT EXHIBITIONS

To commemorate the 75 years of Independence, The Bombay Art Society’s (BAS) is organizing a year-long celebration of 75 years of art through art exhibitions, symposiums, conversations, and art workshops.  The exhibitions and events starting from 15th August 2021 are to continue till 15th August 2022, either online or offline as and when covid-situation permits.

As a part of celebration of ‘75 years of India’s Independence, The Bombay Art Society is organising ‘Colours of Independence: 75 Years of Art’, an online exhibition and symposium starting on 15 August 2021 till 30 Dec 2021. The exhibition is open to Indian Artists. Total 75 awards are to be presented to the best artworks that includes 15 Cash Awards of INR.10,000 each and 60 merit certificates. The ‘Certificate of Participation’ will be presented to all the participating artists. The Entries are to be submitted online at info@bombayartsociety.org.

There is ‘no particular theme’ or medium and size restrictions for the artwork entries. The Society is inviting entries from all the practicing Artists. All the artworks submitted will be displayed online at the society’s website www.bombayartsociety.org . All the participating artists are to be presented ‘Certificate of Participation’ who submitted the entries for the Exhibition. Certificate of participation will be mailed to all the participating artists on their email ID from where entries are received.

The Entry Fees :

For Single Artwork: INR.600
For Two Artworks: INR.1050
For Three Artworks: INR.1500

Entry Fees payment can be done from 07 June 2021 till 30July 2021. The artworks can be emailed to info@bombayartsociety.org at most by 05 August 2021, 5.00pm)

For Society Life members Rs 100 discount is given on the total amount for entry fees in all categories. Entry Fees is to be paid separately for each category. Entry fees once paid is not refunded on any grounds.
Entry Fees is to be paid before submission of entries (Before mailing JPEG images of Artworks at info@bombayartsociety.org )
For Ex. If artist wish to send three entries each, in two categories, then total amount paid is INR.1500 + INR.1500 = INR.3000)
The Artworks can be submitted in following 5 categories.
1. Painting (Includes figurative, abstracts, realistic works, portraits, and landscapes etc) 2. Sculpture 3. Print making (Graphics) 4. Photographic work 5.Video Installation (Not bigger than 10 Minutes – only MP4 files)

Maximum three artworks are allowed to be submitted in each category. All three Artworks submitted will be displayed online at society’s website. Artists can submit entries in multiple categories. (However, certificate of participation will be issued common for all the entries together)
Entries(artwork images) are to be Submitted in digital format only – that is JPEG files are to be emailed at info@bombayartsociety.org )
Very Important: Artists should provide their full address, mobile number, and email ID in the email for communication while mailing entries in JPEG format.
The JEPG file size should not be less than 250kb or not bigger than 1 MB (except video installation category)

The JPEG File Name must include the Artist’s name, Title of artwork, Medium, size(in Inches with Height first) and category with price in INR (Ex. INR.20,000 )

Example of JPEG File Name for each artwork Image should be like –
Artist’s name_Artwork Title_Medium_Size_Category_Price in INR 25000
Suhas Bendre_Blue Vase on table_Oil on Canvas_34 x 42 Inches_INR 45000_Painting

Note: Please give the total price of the artwork including 12% GST and 25% Bombay Art Society’s commission on sale. If artwork is sold, artists will receive 63% of total price mentioned after deducting 12% GST and 25% society’s commission.

Entry Fees need to be paid online from The Bombay Art Society website www.bombayartsociety.org or via online transfer to The Bombay Art Society bank account.

Participants are requested to send the online entry fees transfer receipt with JPEG images with file name as mentioned above, artist’s biodata & self-photograph at info@bombayartsociety.org .

Rules and Regulations:
Eligibility: Open to all the artists of Indian nationality including NRIs, working in any style and any medium. Qualification no bar.
Entries: Each participant can submit maximum three entries in every category. Entry Fees to be paid separately for each category.
Size: There is no size restrictions for artworks except for length of video installation of 10 minutes maximum.
Entry Submission: JPEG files only
The artwork JPEG file name should include
Artist’s name_Artwork Title_Medium_Size_Category_Price in INR.25000

Acceptance
a) All entries must be received as above on info@bombayartsociety.org between 05 June 2021 to 30 July 2021. If Entry fees is paid before 30 July, but artworks could not be mailed due to power failure or internet connective etc, then entries in such cases can be mailed before 5pm, on 05 August 2021. (Only if entry fees are paid before 30 July)

c) In case of any issues with artworks, content policy, Society will have full right to refuse entry without stating any reason whatsoever. In the case of refusal of entry by the Bombay Art Society, the full entry fees paid by the participants will be refunded to them.

Judging
The decision of the Bombay Art Society Jury for award selection and Judging will be final and binding. No Communication on the subject will be entertained. Judging committee will not assign any reason for their decisions.

Catalogue
a) One Artwork image of all participants in each category will be carried in the Catalogue and artists will get a complimentary copy of the digital catalogue. (Can be downloaded from website)
b) The Society reserves the right to reproduce any entry for the catalogue or for the purpose of publicity any time in the future.

Sale
The artworks displayed in the exhibition will be offered for sale. All sales will be negotiated by the Society. The Society will retain 25% donation from the stated or negotiated price. The rest of the amount will be paid to the artist after deducting 12% GST.

Photography
Rules are subject to change by the Managing Committee. Categories in Photography are as follows. (1) Portrait (2) Landscape (3) Pictorial (4) Wildlife (5) Creative (6) Abstract (7) Digital (8) Still Life.
Note: Photographs should not be older than 2019.

VIDEO INSTALLATION
Video installation should be created by the artists. It is accepted in MP4 files only. If video installation uses clips extracted from third party video, it should be clearly specified in the video. Nudity or sexually explicit content used without any context will not be accepted in the video installation. The Bombay Art Society will have full right to reject any video installation that violates content policy without assigning any reasons. Content policy is subject to change as per discretion of the jury of the Bombay Art Society.

E Mail ID and Mobile Number is compulsory for submission of entries. Please mention mobile number and email Id in the email while sending artworks entries in JPEG format. Entries without contact details will not be considered for the exhibition.

All correspondence regarding the exhibition should be made on the email id info@bombayartsociety.org. Please note, society’s Facebook page and Instagram account should not be used for enquiries. The enquiries made on social media pages may not be replied all the time.
